• Giving away the bride. Same as changing the name post-wedding, giving away the bride is frequently associated with the idea that women were in their father’s “ownership” - and once they were given away at the altar, they became the husband’s “ownership” instead. This tradition can be highly emotional and beautiful though, so many brides still follow it. Some of them ask both their parents to walk down the aisle, others ask brothers or friends to do it for them and others go the fully-traditional way by asking their fathers to “give them away”.
• The honeymoon. Tradition says brides and grooms leave for their honeymoons after the wedding.
