Take a look at how weddings have transformed

In a rapidly-evolving world, many things have changed – and the last couple of decades stand as evidence when it comes to this. Of course, the wedding world makes no exception – so there are a lot of wedding traditions that have suffered changes throughout the years. What are they and how have they shifted towards a more contemporary approach? Read on and find out more.

Engagement rings. Originally, diamond engagement rings had an almost mystical power associated with them. Later on, the engagement ring etiquette instructed men to buy engagement rings worth multiple of their salaries at least. Yet, these days engagement rings come in all shapes, with all gemstones and in all ranges of price as well.
Giving away the bride. Same as changing the name post-wedding, giving away the bride is frequently associated with the idea that women were in their father’s “ownership” - and once they were given away at the altar, they became the husband’s “ownership” instead. This tradition can be highly emotional and beautiful though, so many brides still follow it. Some of them ask both their parents to walk down the aisle, others ask brothers or friends to do it for them and others go the fully-traditional way by asking their fathers to “give them away”.
The honeymoon. Tradition says brides and grooms leave for their honeymoons after the wedding. However, if you prefer to travel in a different time of the year, if you believe you can save more money this way or if you simply want to split your honeymoon month in two or three, you are more than allowed to do this,

Keep an eye out for these wedding trends

Every wedding is unique and beautiful – and what makes it so special is nothing else than your very own love story. How to include the latest wedding trends in the biggest day of your life – and how to make them work for your wedding style and story? We have some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

Metallic shades are still more than popular – and they are moving towards wedding gowns and invitations as well. Glamorous, luxurious, beautiful and stylish, metallic colors are an amazing choice for a modern, elegant and really unique wedding day. Remember, you don’t have to have an extremely elegant wedding to incorporate metallic shades in it – you can always do it in unique ways, such as by using tin foil for your wedding invitations design.
Naked cakes are special, delicious and amazingly well-suited for a wide range of weddings. From rustic-chic to garden and seasonal weddings, naked cakes are taking over the “bridal sweets” industry and not without reason. They look stunning, they taste really great and they can be easily personalized to suit your wedding theme!
Photography is leaning towards a more natural, spontaneous area. Gone are the days when perfectly-posed pictures were all the rage. These days, the more natural the photographs are, the trendier they look – and this adds a really genuine vibe to the entire wedding album as well, so you will surely love having your wedding photos taken this way.

Wedding Planner 808 has the experience, devotement and true professionalism you need from your Hawaiian wedding planner. Do you know how to attend a bridal show?

Attending a bridal show is the best thing to do if you don’t have much time at your disposal, but want to interact with as many vendors and new ideas as possible. How do you actually make the most of a bridal show visit, though? We have some tips for you – continue reading to find out more!

Take your time and see it all. Of course, don’t stop by the vendors you have already chosen (for example, if you have already chosen your wedding dress, you don’t have to stop by the wedding boutique booths or attend the fashion shows).
Pin-point what you need. Do you want to see a particular vendor? Or maybe search for certain types of vendors? Make sure you have a good plan and that you follow it. Also, if you choose to bring someone with you, be sure they are well-aware of your plan too.
Take pictures of the great ideas you see. If you see something you like and if you think it would go well with your wedding, do take pictures. You might feel you’ll remember the amazing ideas, but it’s a lot safer to actually document them.
Come prepared to offer information. Most of the booths you visit will ask you to enter your wedding details. To save yourself the time, bring labels with your wedding details on them – this way, you can move faster and you can see more vendors.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. That’s what bridal shows are for. If you have any kind of question a vendor may be able to ask, do not be afraid to raise it. Better to ask and be well-informed than to leave things in the hands of chance!

Don’t forget a gift for the Groom on your wedding day

Your groom is a truly amazing man – and he deserves pure happiness in the marriage you are about to start together. Why not make his wedding morning even more special by sending him a nice gift? He will be more than appreciative of the idea! Here are some suggestions to inspire you in choosing a truly attractive gift for this great man in your life:

A bit of humor. Send him something funny to brighten up his day and remind him why he loves you so much. An old-school book about “husband’s manners”, a small toy inspired by something he loves, cookies – anything goes. After all, you know your groom the best, so you surely know the kind of things that can make his day better.
A bit of sentimentalism. Yes, he’s a man – but this is a huge day in his life too, so he will be more than happy to share deep, meaningful emotions with you. Send him the first picture you took together, a creative list of the things you truly love about him, or anything else that’s focused on the beautiful love story you share.
A bit of classiness. Want to keep it traditional and classy with your gift? Some things will always be attractive for guys – so why not buy him an accessory he can wear on the wedding day, such as a beautiful pair of cufflinks or a watch? He will be happy to look so handsome with your gift!

Wedding planning tips that every couple should consider

Your wedding is such a hugely and amazingly important event in your life! Of course, you want everything about it to be really memorable – but how do you do that? How do you make sure both you and your guests have a truly great time at your wedding?

We have gathered some of the very best wedding planning tips – so continue reading if you want to find out more.

First of all, be sure the food is amazing. But even more than that, be sure even fussy eaters can be at least partially satisfied with what you serve. What’s more, don’t forget to include small edible surprises into the wedding too – such as a late night snack, a special food bar or a unique food truck too.
If your wedding is on the outside, be sure you plan for bad weather. It is of paramount importance regardless of what your wedding season may be! Plan for the good and plan for the bad too, so that you don’t allow rain to wash away your dreams of having a marvelous wedding!
Be realistic – about your weight loss goals, about your financial expectations and about everything else too. Yes, you have the right to dream of 100% perfection – but don’t set your goals much too far from the reality if you don’t want to be disappointed. Keep it healthy and realistic and you will have the time of your life!
Only work with real pros. Your florist, your pastry chef, your caterer and every other wedding specialist helping you with the Big Day – they should all be fantastically well-trained for the job. Don’t leave your dream wedding into the hands of someone you don’t trust!

Wedding Planner 808 can help you plan a gorgeous wedding in Hawaii – so if you have this in mind as a location, be sure to contact us as soon as possible! You will never regret your choice!

Plan a wonderful honeymoon with these tips

Your wedding is going to be one of the most amazing, unforgettable and incredibly important events in your life. But remember, what comes after it is just as important as the Big Day itself! How do you plan the perfect honeymoon to celebrate your love story? What are the questions you should answer before starting to make calls and appointments?

We have some tips for you – so read on to find out more.

Do you want to travel abroad or stay in your home country or state? There are plenty of travel options in either case, so don’t feel limited. Some people simply don’t want to travel abroad for their honeymoons because they like the psychological comfort a US location can offer – and others want excitement all throughout their wedding days. It’s your call!
Do you want to travel right after the wedding, or wait a little? It is perfectly understandable you want to take some time off everything planning-related after the wedding. Likewise, it is understandable if you cannot leave for your honeymoon right after the wedding because you might have other issues to handle. Decide on what works for you!
Do you want to see a new place, or an old one? Some places have such a powerful meaning for couples that they will always want to return to them. Do you have any such location? If so, do you want to go there for your honeymoon, or do you prefer exploring something completely new? See what suits you most!

Wedding Planner 808 can take a burden off your chest and help you plan your Hawaiian wedding in grand style. Come visit us, learn more about our services and allow us to be part of your Big Day! You will definitely love it!

Which musical trend will you be following for your big day?

Immensely powerful and incredibly close to our hearts, music can really change everything. It can make you happy and it can add a touch of sentimentalism, it can make things fun and it can make things sophisticated and, ultimately, it can follow you through every single step of your life.
Of course, your wedding music is more than important to you – but what are some of the latest wedding music trends to inspire you? We have some ideas – so read on and find out more.

The string band at the entrance. Want to create a truly sophisticated ambiance at your wedding? Hire a string band to enchant wedding guests right from the moment they step into your venue. This will make everything more elegant, more beautiful and more sentimental as well.
The band and the DJ. If you cannot decide between the two, you are more than free to hire both options – one for the reception and the other one for the ceremony, for example. Doing this will make your wedding even more entertaining and unique.
Classic songs with modern twists. If you want to step down the aisle on Here Comes the Bride, but if you also want to make this moment more contemporary and personal, ask your wedding DJ or band to come up with a modern cover of the classic. This can be done with all traditional songs and it can work the other way around too (having modern songs played in an instrumental, traditional way).

Planning a Hawaiian wedding? Come visit Wedding Planner 808 and allow us to be part of your love story. Our wedding planning services are here to help brides and grooms make their dream weddings come true – so you will be more than happy with what we offer for this special event in your life!

Get creative with your wedding seating

Seating people in the right places is essential for the success of your Big Day – but it is also important to make sure the seating chart blends beautifully with everything else at your wedding. How to create a genuinely unique wedding seating? We have gathered some pretty ideas – so read on and find out more.

Hanging leaves. This is a very simple, but beautifully unique way of showing guests off to their seats. Line up strings (one for each of the tables at your reception) and attach the leaf-shaped escort cards to each of these strings. Simple, special and truly cute – and it works marvelously for a spring wedding, just as much as it does for a fall one (just change the colors of the leaves!).
Mirroring love. Planning a very fancy affair? Mirrors have the almost magical power of reflecting light and making spaces look larger. Plus, a mirror with a vintage or antique-looking frame can also be a great addition to a vintage-themed wedding too. Place the large mirror at the entrance in the reception room with the guests’ names and tables on it and they will surely like the idea.
Flowery touches. If you want your wedding favors to double as escort cards too, think of your favorite potted flowers (and make sure there are as many types of them as wedding tables are). Write guests’ names on a small, beautifully-designed card in the pot and encourage them to take the plant home and help you “grow their love”.  Romantic, eco-friendly and beautiful too!

Sunflowers are a gorgeous choice for your Fall wedding

Fall is here and this means many brides are thinking of their approaching wedding day. Of course, summer may start to be just a memory – but the truth is that a fall wedding can be even more gorgeous, unique and unforgettable than a summer event.

How do sunflowers enter the picture, though? How can you incorporate these lively blooms into your fall wedding? Here are some wonderful ideas to “steal” for your Big Day:

For your bouquet, create a sunflower arrangement that brings together white roses and gerbera daisies too. This combination will look elegant and it will make the beautiful yellow of the sunflowers pop even more joyfully against the white background of the white blooms.
Planning a vintage fall wedding? No worries, sunflowers can still have a well-deserved place in your hands as you walk down the aisle! Combine them with toned-down blooms and just a bit of grey (in the bouquet wrap, for example) and you will create a flawless vintage bouquet everyone will love.
For your centerpieces, think of arrangements inspired by summer, but brought into the fall background. Mums and dahlias are more than perfect for a fall wedding – and they can be superbly combined with sunflowers and wooden elements (e.g. logs to place the centerpieces on).
Want your flower girl’s blooms to match the other sunflower-infused wedding elements? Give her a single sunflower stem – it will make it easier for her to walk down the aisle and it will definitely make her look even cuter and livelier!

The entertainment of your wedding is important!

There’s no doubt over the fact that your wedding is one of the biggest, most life-changing events you’ll ever plan. After all, you don’t get married every day – so it’s perfectly normal to want everything about the Big Day to be flawless, from head to finish.

How do you make sure your wedding entertainment is right on point? Here are some tips to help you make the most out of it.

First of all, decide on the right type of wedding music. For some, bands are the perfect choice, for others DJs are a better option. And then there are people who simply hire both (e.g. a band for the ceremony and a DJ for the reception). Do some research, analyze both options on all sides and decide on that which really fits you as a couple.
Furthermore, remember that it doesn’t matter whether you’re hiring a DJ or a wedding band: communication is still key in both cases. Your wedding band or DJ may be extremely experienced in the art of entertaining people, but if they don’t get to talk to you and get a sense of what you want from them, they can never actually “guess it”.
Last, but surely not least, keep in mind that your wedding DJ or band really wants to know about the songs you want or don’t want at your wedding. As mentioned above, they cannot read minds – so it’s essential that you talk to them and provide them with a list of do’s and don’ts they can follow through with on the Big Day.

These garden games will offer some fun for your outdoor wedding

As the host of your wedding day, you will surely want everyone there to create amazing memories. Yes, delicious food does help, and a nice variety of drinks (alcoholic or otherwise) can help as well. And yes, great music is mandatory too.

But if you want to go beyond that with your outdoor wedding entertainment, why not organize some really fun games? Here are some ideas of what you could try to incorporate in your Big Day:

A wedding piñata. It doesn’t matter how young or old your guests may be, they will always love a good piñata game (just as much as they all love the sweets inside the toy too!). Get a wedding-themed piñata and allow your guests to reminisce childhood birthday parties – they will have huge fun doing this!
A wedding match. If you know you and your friends have a favorite type of sport, why not bring a bit of it into your wedding day? From English croquet to baseball, anything’s possible to play at a wedding if there’s enough space. As long as it entertains the guests, it will be a more than welcomed addition!
A sack race. Want to see your groomsmen fooling around and laughing? Organize a sack race for your wedding party (or for all of the guests, if you think they will like it). This is a really fun game people are more than familiar with – so it’s bound to be a huge success.

It is Summer, so your wedding should be full of color!

It’s still summer outside, and if you plan on having your wedding before the end of the season, adding color to your wedding palette is surely an option you are considering. Why wouldn’t you, after all? Colors will really make you and your guests feel amazing at the Big Day – and they can truly speak about your style and love story too.

How to add a pop of color to your wedding décor and still keep it elegant and fabulous? Here are some wonderful ideas to consider:

The shoes, the jewelry, and the bridesmaids. Add a bit of color to your wedding look by wearing bright-colored shoes, spice up your style with jewelry that pops, and dress up your bridesmaids in colors that are vibrant and gorgeous. Using the right color combinations, you can really pull this off in grand style!
The cocktails. Want to make your wedding drinks feel really special too? Create a signature cocktail that shines with color! With so many amazing ingredients available during the warm season, you can actually serve cocktails that are so unique your guests will instantly love them!
The variety. You don’t have to settle on fuchsia as your “pop of color” – not if you don’t like the idea, at least. There are many other splendid color options that really do the trick of adding liveliness and beauty to the mix, so you don’t have to feel limited to the very bright ones. Soft pinks and jewel tones can also work like magic, so don’t be afraid to use them!

Make sure you choose the best date for your big day

Your wedding date is, without any kind of doubt, one of the most important and life-changing “numbers” you will ever remember. Of course, you want everything about the Big Day to be absolutely fantastic – and it all starts with choosing the right date for such an important event in your life.

How to do it? Here are some tips every couple should keep in mind when choosing their wedding date:

Settle on the season. You may not know your precise wedding date (and, truth be told, you won’t know it until you actually book your venue). However, giving people at least an estimate (e.g. the season) will be more than useful. Plus, choosing your wedding season can help you narrow-down other decisions as well (such as the “vibe” you want to create at your wedding, for example).
Settle on the day of the week and the time of the day. Your wedding doesn’t have to happen during the evening, or on Saturday. It can happen at any moment of the day, any moment of the week (and it can actually be less expensive to choose a less common time).
Keep your guests in mind. Since they will have to travel to reach your wedding location, you will also want to make it easier for them to get there. Avoid the holiday season (since guests may find it difficult to find transportation and accommodation) and, in general, avoid celebrations most people spend at home with their families (e.g. Christmas).

Dreaming of a Hawaii wedding? Wedding Planner 808 can help you with that! With our wedding planning experience and with our attention to detail, your wedding is bound to be nothing less of PERFECT! Contact us and find out more about our planning services!

Allow these quotes to provide inspiration for your wedding vows

Writing your own wedding vows is an excellent choice if you want to make your wedding ceremony as unique and personal as your love story is. Yet, if you are lost for ideas and don’t know what to start your vows with, looking at famous wedding vows will surely help you a lot. Here are some of the most romantic quotes to inspire you in creating emotional and unforgettable wedding vows:

Tyler Knott Gregson. “Because of you I can feel myself slowly but surely becoming the one I have always dreamed of being”.
Aristotle: “Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.”
Jody Picoult: “"You don't love someone because they're perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that they're not."
Plato: "At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet."
Lao-Tzu: "Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage."
1 Corinthians 13:4-8. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
Goethe: "We are shaped and fashioned by those we love."
Paulo Coelho: "Love is an untamed force. When we try to control it, it destroys us. When we try to imprison it, it enslaves us. When we try to understand it, it leaves us feeling lost and confused."

Gain some insight about popular wedding traditions

Truth be told, we are all surrounded by customs we don’t know much about – and weddings are definitely among the most traditions-oriented events in our lives. From the moment the bride walks down the aisle to the moment she bids her farewell, there are a lot of wedding customs we tend to follow, but never really understand the meaning of.

What are some of the most popular wedding traditions and how were they born? Here are some interesting things you might want to know about this:

The bouquet toss. This tradition was started in England, where the bride’s dress and bouquet used to be torn off by the women at her wedding (who believed that stealing a piece of the bride’s attire would bring them good luck). To be able to escape the wedding, the bride would toss the bouquet over her head on her way out.
Something old, something new. It is generally known that this tradition is meant to bring brides good luck in their married lives. However, what not many people know is that every part of the tradition has its own meaning. Something old is a symbol of the bride’s connection with her past and family; something new represents her big hopes for the future; something borrowed is usually taken from a married woman who had good luck in life; and something blue is a symbol of the bride’s purity, as well as her love and fidelity. The last part of the tradition is commonly forgotten these days (“…and a sixpence in her shoe”), but people believed it would bring the bride wealth in her married life.
The tiered cake. Did you know that this tradition dates back to Anglo-Saxon times, when guests brought small cakes to the wedding and stacked them one on top of the other? However, it was a French who first created the actual tiered cake, taking inspiration from the shape of the old Anglo-Saxon tradition and covering the cake in frosting as well.

Save some money for your wedding by cutting some costs on your reception menu

Your wedding reception is going to be one of the most expensive parts of the Big Day – and the menu you serve can definitely be among the priciest items you will have to pay for this event. How to save money for your wedding by cutting costs on your reception menu? We have some great tips for you – so read on to find out more.

Don’t be afraid to be a little non-traditional. This is how unique and memorable weddings are born most of the times, so it can actually bring plenty of benefits. For example, you could replace the more common cuts of meat with something less popular (such as pork belly or local fish). This will add a special touch to your menu and it can surely save you a lot of money too.
Leave the appetizers aside. If your budget is rather low, offering passed appetizers might very easily push you over your financial limits. We suggest you leave these aside. They are a nice addition, but they are not absolutely crucial – so leave them aside to focus on a more delicious, fresher and more satisfying main meal.
Cut off on the cake. In general, wedding cakes can be truly expensive – so this is another way by which you can save money on the wedding menu. Instead of a large, multi-tiered cake, serve a smaller one and a special candy bar – or have a small cake for the cutting ceremony and serve guests with sheet cake in the same flavors.

Planning a Hawaiian wedding? Wedding Planner 808 has a lot of experience in planning weddings in the area – so if you want everything to be smooth and to look perfect, you should definitely contact us. Let’s talk about your dream wedding and how we can help you with it!

Choose the best items if you are renting for your wedding

Regardless of how large or small your wedding will be, attention to detail is crucial – and if you have decided to rent out furniture and other items, you will definitely want to be extra-careful about choosing them. After all, these elements make for a large part of the Big Day’s ambiance, so it is essential that you choose them the right way.

How to do it? How to choose the best items if you are renting for your wedding? We have some great tips for you – so read on and find out more.

Your venue. Like with many other wedding elements, your venue will have an important influence on the furniture rentals too – so be sure to consider it when searching for them. After all, rustic furniture wouldn’t look very good in a very elegant ballroom, right?
Your style. Of course, you should also be sure to choose rentals that go with the overall wedding style too. Having an outdoor wedding is one thing – but if it’s rustic, garden-inspired or shabby-chic, you will want to be sure your rentals reflect that and are perfectly incorporated in the overall décor.
Comfort and quality. We highly advise you not to settle on any kind of rentals that are low-quality, uncomfortable, or, even worse, downright dangerous. Make a list with the basics you need (chairs, stools, tables, lounge furniture, and so on) and shop around until you find those which fit you – especially from the point of view of the comfort they provide.

Planning a wedding in gorgeous Hawaii? If so, be sure to hire a wedding planner who knows the area, the best vendors around and who also knows how to make dream weddings come true! Contact Wedding Planner 808 and we will provide you with all this – and so much more!

When creating your wedding invitations, be sure to avoid these mistakes

Your wedding invitations are like a “glimpse” into the Big Day – so you definitely want them to be flawlessly beautiful. What does that mean, though? What are some of the mistakes you should definitely avoid doing with your wedding invitations (and stationery in general)? We have gathered the best tips for you to keep in mind – so read on and find out more.

Using too much color. You don’t need to use a lot of color to create vibrant invitations – you do, however, need to use the right colors (preferably, colors that are included or at least related to your wedding color scheme itself).
Trying to use all the wedding elements. Don’t cram all of your wedding motifs into your invitations’ design. Not only will things look like “too much”, but it can also give away too much of the Big Day – and this is something you most likely don’t want.
Addressing the envelopes by hand. No, doing this takes way too much time (and there are still so many things to handle before the wedding, right?). Having your stationery designer address the envelopes himself/herself doesn’t cost much and it can save you a lot of time and trouble.
Leaving guests with too much time to send their RSVPs back. Your RSVPs are essential – so make sure you time their deadline right, so that guests are not inclined to completely forget about them. Three to four weeks should be enough for the guests to decide if they can or cannot attend your wedding – so don’t push the deadline much further than that.

Wedding Planner 808 has the experience, the passion and the genuine attention to detail needed to plan unforgettable Hawaiian weddings. So, if you want your Big Day to take place in the area, make sure to contact us as soon as possible!

Make yourself aware of what wedding cake vendors wish you knew:

Your wedding cake is most definitely one of the most important parts of the wedding day. Not only will be everyone looking forward for the sweet treat, but the cutting of the cake (and the dessert itself) is a very powerful symbol for your love story.

What are some of the things wedding cake vendors wish you knew about choosing the perfect cake, though? We have gathered them right below – so read on and find out more.

100% imitation may not be possible. All those amazing ideas on Pinterest are, indeed, a great source of inspiration. However, pay in mind that not all cake chefs can imitate to perfection those ideas (they may lack the tools, or their style may be completely different). You can get a cake that’s similar to what you found on the Internet – but it may not be exactly the same.
Your cake should definitely be large enough to serve all your guests. One-tier cakes are really trendy right now – but if you plan on having a large wedding, with more than 200 guests, make sure you either have five one-tier cakes or that you have a five-tier one. This will be enough to serve everyone with a delicious slice of sweet treat.
Last, but definitely not least, be extra-attentive if you plan on having a summer outdoor wedding. Most cake frostings don’t do well in high heat (including buttercream and fondant) - so you should keep your cake cool, indoors, until you are about to cut it. This way, you will be able to serve guests with cake that looks and tastes amazing.

Wedding Planner 808 can help you plan a gorgeous Hawaiian wedding, according to your style, your ideas and your vision. Contact us, let’s discuss your dream wedding and we will make it come true in a flawless way!

When planning on getting to and from your wedding, be sure you have the best mode of transportation!

Your wedding is a spectacular moment – so it’s only natural that you want to make for an equally fantastic entrance and for a glamorous exit as well. How to do that? What are some of the best modes of transportation to consider? We have some tips for you – so read on if you are on the lookout for ideas.

A limousine. Of course, this is an absolute classic for weddings and other life-changing moments. Yet, there is a very good reason people still love it: a limo can really make you feel like a true VIP. What’s more, renting a limousine will not cost as much as you may believe and you will get a lot of satisfaction out of your money precisely because this vehicle will put you in a “fabulous mood” both before and after the wedding.
A party bus. If you and your future spouse are the kind of people who really enjoy a good party, why not use a party bus as your mode of transportation? Not only will this be unique, but it is a wonderful opportunity to invite your wedding party with you too – so that they feel equally important as you do.
A vintage or retro car. Planning a wedding inspired by the past decades? If so, make sure your wedding day transportation fits in your wedding theme. There’s a myriad of vintage and retro car options you can rent for the wedding – so you should not feel afraid you’re out of options in any way.

Follow these trends to create a beautiful bouquet!

Flowers and weddings have always been very tightly connected to each other – and understandably so. Delicate, romantic and beautiful, the right flowers can complement a wedding’s décor like nothing else can – so it is highly important to choose the types of flowers that suit you and who you are as a couple.

Obviously, your bouquet is the most crucial flower element of the Big Day – but what are some of the latest trend in the floral world? What bouquets are 2016 brides falling in love with? We have some ideas for you – so if inspiration is what you’re searching for, you have come to the right place.

Plenty of greens. Of course, blooming bouquets will never go out of style. But this year, more and more brides are incorporating larger amounts of greenery and foliage into their bouquets (to the point where they are entirely green). Use this trend to create a whimsical and vibrant bouquet, to save money and to be an eco-conscious bride! You will love it!
From the local flower shop. Gone are the days when ordering over-priced flowers from across the border was the it thing to do for the Big Day. Nowadays, brides are taking the practical route, sticking with flowers “made at home”. Local and seasonal flowers can be fresher, they can definitely be cheaper and they can also add a personal touch to one’s wedding – so why not choose them?
Vintage is timeless. Yes, we’re still madly in love with vintage weddings – and bouquets make no exception from this. A bouquet made with old-school chrysanthemums or dahlias, wrapped in a rich, luxurious piece of fabric – oh, that’s truly romantic for every type of bride, even for one who’s not planning on the most vintage wedding ever!

Allow these wedding hacks to assist you when planning your big day!

Your wedding deserves to be absolutely splendid! YOU deserve to have a wedding that reflects you and your love story from all points of view!

But what happens when the venue you have chosen for the Big Day is not exactly as you have always wanted it to be? What happens when certain elements of your wedding décor concept simply don’t fit well with the venue itself?

We have gathered some useful wedding hacks to help you with this – so read on and find out more.

The venue’s colors go against your wedding color scheme. This one can be quite harsh on a bride who wants her Big Day’s “look” to be perfectly coordinated – but don’t worry! The solution to this is to embrace the venue’s colors by matching them with small details in other elements of the décor (the drapes with the napkins, for example).
The wedding’s floor pattern doesn’t suit you. If you have a bit of extra-budget to play up on, you can definitely solve this one very easily, by bringing in another carpet and rolling it over the original one. If you cannot afford doing this, think of it this way: most of the carpet’s surface will be covered by tables, chairs, the stage, the dance floor, and so on. Therefore, it will not be as noticeable and you can simply draw the attention towards the ceiling.
The chairs are not what you wanted. Again, this is easy to solve by simply renting out new chairs. If that is not possible due to budget constraints, rent at least a few chairs and place them in those areas that draw the most attention. It doesn’t sound like it, but it can surely make a huge difference!

Wedding Planner 808 can help you plan a superb Hawaii wedding, surrounded by all those who are dear to you. Come visit us, take a look at the services we offer and we will make sure your Big Day is truly amazing!

Have a great time getting ready with your bridesmaids on your big day!

You and your bridesmaids have a really special relationship. After all, this is precisely why you have chosen them to be your attendants on the big day, right? How to make sure both you and your special ladies have fun when getting ready for the wedding, though?

We have gathered some ideas that will give your “Getting Ready” session a dash of uniqueness and magic – so read on, find out more and inspire yourself to create some unforgettable moments with your bridesmaids.

Matching bathrobes. Want to pamper your friends with a really special gift? Offer them matching silk bathrobes. They look gorgeous, they are the kind of item the bridesmaids will want to wear again with no doubt and they will appear amazing in the pictures too.
Simple tank tops…with a touch of femininity. If you want something simple and beautiful to wear as you are all getting ready, buy simple tank tops for you and your bridesmaids. Add a small bow to each of the tops and wear these as you are shooting your “Getting Ready” photos. It will look adorable and fun!
Personalized makeup bags. Create some special makeup bags for your bridesmaids and they will love the idea! It doesn’t have to be something too expensive or fancy – an elegant makeup bag with your monogram will surely look amazing!

Before the wedding comes the bridal shower, be sure it is planned just right!

Your friend’s bridal shower is very important to her – and you surely want her to be truly happy at this essential pre-wedding event. How to make sure you plan a bridal shower both the bride and the guests will love? We have gathered some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

Take the initiative to plan the bridal shower, especially if you know for sure nobody else has done it already. However, don’t feel obliged to plan everything on your own. In fact, engaging other bridesmaids or relatives of the bride is always a good idea, as the tasks will be split among everyone.
Don’t forget to check with the bride’s schedule, as well as with her VIPs’ schedule too. In general, bridal showers are planned quite early on, but this depends a lot on the bride and the guests too.
Speaking of the guests, don’t forget to ask the bride for her guest list. This way, you know for sure whom to invite – and you don’t risk making the mistake of inviting someone who isn’t invited to the actual wedding.
Also, don’t forget to offer people guidance for the gifts. You want the bride to be truly happy with everything about her shower – and making sure she receives gifts she wants and needs can be a very important part of this.
Last, but not least, plan some fun group activities, but always make sure you choose activities that would not make the bride feel uncomfortable. And do not make the shower schedule too strict or too crammed with activities – these things tend to ruin a party, as everyone will focus more on checking items on the “to do list”, rather than having fun.

Choose your wedding cake shape first before deciding on a style!

Your wedding cake is an essential part of the big day. And while all the details on it should be carefully-chosen, it is also very important that you start from the very foundation of your wedding dessert: its shape.

How to choose the best wedding cake shape to suit your wedding style and your personality? We have some tips for you – so read on if you want to find out more.

The round cake. This is the absolute classic of wedding cakes – so if you plan on having an elegant, traditional and timeless wedding, it will be the perfect choice. Sure, some of you may think a round cake is plain and dull – but if you think of it, the round shape provides you with the best “canvas” for your unique ideas, so you should definitely not rule out the option.
The petal-shaped cake. Sophisticated, elegant and beautiful, petal-shaped cakes can be tricky to “play” with because their shape is already quite intricate. However, if you are attentive with just how many details you use for the cake décor, this can be a truly gorgeous choice!
The square-shaped cake. With its avant-garde “feel” and its urban touch, the square-shaped cake is quite a lot of fun – despite its rigid form. The key here is to soften up the edges by choosing a delicate design for the decorations, so that you out the “roughness” and the “gentleness” in a really beautiful way.

Don’t play these inappropriate wedding songs at your wedding!

We cannot emphasize this enough: your wedding music is absolutely crucial for the success of the Big Day. And while it is definitely important to make sure you talk to your DJ about the songs you do want at your wedding, it is also essential that you take into consideration the songs that you don’t want him to play at your wedding. Of course, this “don’t” playlist will include songs you don’t like or that remind you of bad memories – but it should also include songs that are simply inappropriate for weddings.

What are some of these songs? We have some suggestions for you – so read on and find out more.
The Police’s Every Breath You Take. OK, it may have been catchy a few (many) years ago, but these days, this song sounds more like the “stalker’s anthem” than a romantic song. We suggest you take this off your playlist if you want to avoid your guests’ giggles at the sound of this completely inappropriate song.
Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On. Anyone who grew up (or was a teenager) in the late 90s knows this song by heart. And while our hearts will always go on with Celine’s masterpiece, the truth is that this is a complete no-no for your wedding day. Why? The story associated with it is simply too sad.
Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You. No. Just don’t. This is a break-up song and if you listen to the lyrics carefully, you will hear it. Your wedding should be all about happy moments and big hopes – not “bittersweet memories” as “all you’re taking with you”.

With so many types of wedding ceremony sites, how do you choose yours?

Your wedding ceremony is one of the most unforgettable, candid and truly magical moments of your life. Naturally, you want to choose a ceremony site that’s truly suitable for you and who you are as a couple – but how do you do that? What are some of the main criteria to consider when choosing the right wedding ceremony? Read on and find out more.

Price. Not all wedding ceremonies will require you to pay a fee – but those who don’t, will expect you to make a donation (e.g. if you choose to have your ceremony in a church, for example). Do make sure the fee (or the donation) falls within your wedding budget.
Closeness to the reception venue. You don’t want to waste a lot of time moving from the ceremony site to the reception venue – so make sure to choose a site that’s as close as possible to the reception venue.
General ambiance and light. Your wedding ceremony should be peaceful and quiet – and its natural light should feel flattering and beautiful. Take a close look at these details, so that you make sure you’ll have a fantastic wedding ceremony.
Amenities. Even if you choose to get married at a really rustic ceremony site, you will still want to make sure your guests are fully comfortable. Make sure there’s enough shade for them, see if the site offers restrooms and analyze all the details meant to make your guests really comfortable throughout your wedding ceremony.

Do you have to serve dinner at your wedding?

Your wedding is a very, very special moment in your life – so it is only normal that you want everything about it to be both very personal and more than perfect too.

Does that mean you have to serve dinner at your wedding, though? We have gathered some of the most important things you should know about this – so read on to find out more.

In short, no. You don’t have to do anything at your own wedding. This is your moment and it should be about you, your love story and who you are as unique individuals and as a couple too. Therefore, if you feel that serving dinner is just not “your thing”, you can definitely choose not to do it.
Instead, you could have a lunch, brunch or even breakfast reception. This is a wonderful way to add uniqueness to your wedding and it can also save some pretty serious money too. Moreover, it can be extremely fun and it is a good way of having an alcohol-free reception too (especially since not many of your guests will want to serve alcohol at breakfast or lunch – and even if they do, they will not have more than one-two drinks).
Furthermore, having a cocktail reception or a simple evening reception with passed appetizers is a great option too. The appetizers can be anything – ranging from “comfort foods with a twist” (e.g. tomato soup shooters and mini grilled cheese sandwiches) to fancy hors d’oeuvres (e.g. salmon fume bruschetta).

Regardless of what type of food you choose to serve at your wedding, we guarantee Wedding Planner 808 can help you plan everything down to the smallest details. Contact us and allow us to help you have a fantastic wedding in gorgeous Hawaii!

Coordinating your bridesmaids’ dresses with your wedding dress is a great idea!

Your bridesmaids are your best friends and the attendants who will stand by you as you spell out two of the most important words of your life: I Do. Therefore, matching their dresses with yours is a really great idea. Not only will it help you create a well-pulled together wedding, but it will also look amazing in the pictures!

How to do that? What are some of the best ideas when it comes to matching bridesmaids’ dresses with your own wedding gown? Here are some tips to keep in mind:

The same neckline. If you want to offer your bridesmaids the freedom to choose dresses that flatter their body types, settle on bringing their looks together with yours by choosing the same neckline for their dresses and yours.
The same cut. Planning to wear a long, sheath dress? Then choose the same design for your bridesmaids’ dresses too. Again, if you want to give your best ladies some freedom, you can allow them to choose from a variety of shades or you can encourage them to choose different necklines.
Floral details. If you want to wear a dress with flower appliques, bring this into your bridesmaids’ dresses too. This is a fun and stylish detail that will look absolutely gorgeous on a variety of designs, so both you and your bridesmaids have plenty of options to choose from.
Design details. If you don’t want the exact same cut for your dress as you want for your bridesmaids, but still want a major detail to connect your looks, search for common design details. For example, if you will wear a long peplum dress, your bridesmaids can wear shorter peplum dresses too.

Wedding Planner 808 can help you put together all the amazing details of your Big Day in Hawaii – so if you plan on having your wedding here and you want it to be flawless, contact us and find out more about our wedding planning services!

Do you plan on writing your own wedding vows? These traditional vows offer great inspiration!

Your wedding vows are the brick and mortar of your future marriage – they are the rules upon which the two of you choose to build your future, they are your hopes and your expectations and, ultimately, they are sacred promises you make in front of the one you love and everyone present there for you.

Writing your own wedding vows is a really great idea if you want to add a touch of personality and uniqueness to your vows – but that doesn’t mean you cannot steal inspiration from the more traditional vows too. Here are some of the most beautiful traditional vows to help you write yours:

In protestant weddings, most of the wedding vows are similar and they follow the pattern of the Basic Protestant Vows: "I, … , take thee, … , to be my wedded husband/wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my faith [or] pledge myself to you."
In Jewish weddings, the vows depend on the particular branch the couple belongs to. In very traditional Jewish weddings, the groom places a ring on the bride’s finger, saying “Behold, you are consecrated to me with this ring according to the laws of Moses and Israel”. Also, a less traditional (but truly beautiful) wedding vow includes a phrase from the Song of Songs: “I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine.”
In Quaker weddings, the vows are somewhat similar to the ones used in most Protestant and Catholic weddings – with the difference that here, the people gathered at your wedding will be included in the vows as well: "In the presence of God and these our friends I take thee, ______, to be my husband/wife, promising with Divine assistance to be unto thee a loving and faithful husband/wife so long as we both shall live.".

If you are thinking of having an adult only wedding be sure you know how to properly plan it

In a modern world where brides and grooms can choose to do whatever they want on their Big Day, it comes without saying that they are also allowed to invite only the people they want as well. Of course, this can also include having an “adult only” wedding too – and there are plenty of reasons that may push you into choosing this type of event.

How do you plan it, though? How do you have a “children free” wedding without offending anyone? We have gathered some of the most important things you should know about this – so read on and find out more.

First and foremost, do not write “Adult Only” on the invitations. This can hurt your guests’ feeling to the point they won’t attend your wedding anymore. Instead, get the help of your close friends and family to spread the word. Also, if you have a wedding website, feel free to write about it there.
To make it very clear from the very beginning, address your wedding invitations with “Mr. and Mrs.” – and not with anything that might suggest that the entire family is invited. Also, include your guests’ specific names on the RSVP too. This way, most of your guests will understand that only they are invited.
If it seems that any of the guests may have misunderstood the meaning of your invitations, do call them and clarify the situation. You don’t need to over-explain yourself (and you most definitely have to hold your grounds and not give up under pressure!). Just tell them that your budget is a bit more restrictive and you cannot have the children invited too.
Last, but definitely not least, having an adult only wedding doesn’t have to mean you cannot have a Ring Bearer and a Flower Girl. They are part of your wedding party and your guests will most likely understand this.

Searching for an experienced and talented wedding planner in Hawaii? Contact Wedding Planner 808 and we will make sure to provide you with superior, sophisticated and truly professional wedding planning services – so that your Big Day turns out absolutely amazing!

Take a look at some fun games to consider for your wedding reception

Of course, your wedding will be emotional and romantic. But beyond anything, this should be a happy event, filled with the laughter and joy of everyone you invited. Having games at the wedding reception is a wonderful way of making sure everyone stays happy and entertained – but what are some of the best games for such an event?

We have gathered some suggestions – so read on and find out more.

The kissing menu. Clinking glasses is a tradition you might not be able to avoid. However, you could replace it by providing your guests with a “kissing menu” (where each item is an activity for you as a couple and it “pays” with another activity – such as a dance with a bridesmaid).
Icebreaker games. Mad Libs, I Spy and all the other similar games can be adapted to be suitable for a wedding too. They are really fun and they will definitely break the ice among your guests, so that they have the time of their lives throughout the wedding reception.
Photo booth. Having a photo booth at your wedding is a very fun idea, but if you want to make it even more entertaining, provide your guests with props that bring them together. For example, providing them with a chalkboard and asking them to write their wishes on it can turn into a fun activity for everyone (not to mention it will make for some really nice memories for you as the bride and groom).

Wedding Planner 808 can help you plan a great wedding in Hawaii – so if you want your Big Day to be truly memorable and if you want to avoid the wedding planning stress, contact us and let’s talk about you and your love story!

Be sure you are aware of how to properly write your wedding “Thank You” notes

Your guests are amazing people – they were there for you on the Big Day, they spent their time choosing and sending you a gift you love and, ultimately, they celebrated with you the emotional moment you went through.

Naturally, you will want to properly thank them for their presence and support. But how do you do that? How do you properly write your wedding “Thank You” notes? We have gathered some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

Be very well-organized. If you want to make sure you don’t leave anyone out and if you want to be certain you don’t misspell names or addresses, create a list with all the guests and keep it handy. Also, be sure to order the Thank You notes as soon as possible and to jot down what gift you have received from each guest as well (this will be helpful when actually writing the notes).
Send them as soon as possible. Ideally, you should acknowledge every gift as soon as you receive it. However, most of your guests will understand that the time span before and after the wedding is very busy – so it is acceptable to send it within two weeks. Whatever you do though, don’t leave more than three months to pass before you send the “Thank You” notes.
Be honest. You don’t have to write too much – four to five sentences should do. However, please keep in mind that the “Thank You” notes should be handwritten and personalized for each guest. After all, they all took the time to come to your wedding, so they deserve an honest “Thank You”.

Wedding Planner 808 can help you make wedding planning easy and smooth – so if you are searching for an amazing planner in Hawaii, give us a call and let’s have a talk. We guarantee you will not be disappointed in any way!

Be aware of these things you didn’t know you needed on your wedding day!

There are a lot of things needed for a dream wedding. And yet, even with all the planning and the minute attention to detail, there are a lot of brides who forget doing some of the most important things. What are some of the most commonly forgotten wedding to-do’s? We have gathered them right below – so read on and find out more.

Having breakfast (or brunch). Before you even start getting ready, have a delicious and nutritious brunch with your special ladies. It will give you plenty of energy for the day ahead of you and it will help you (and your bridesmaids) do everything more efficiently.

Preparing an emergency kit. As mentioned before, even with all the planning ahead, there are things that could go wrong. For these situations, an emergency kit will do the trick. Superglue, duct tape, a sewing kit, deodorant, Band-Aids and Advil can really save the day.

Preparing a beauty kit as well. Although your makeup artist will most likely provide you with samples of the products she used so that you can freshen up your makeup, it is still a great idea to come prepared. Blotting papers, face powder and lipstick are a must – so be ready to include them in your day-of “luggage”.

Packing clothes to get ready in. Your “Getting Ready” photo shooting is going to be really intimate and unforgettable – so make sure you are dressed in cute clothes (maybe even choose something to match with your bridesmaids’ “getting ready” outfits).

Take a look at these tips for finding the best destination wedding dress:

Planning a destination wedding tends to be a bit more difficult – but it is definitely doable. Aside from finding reliable vendors and aside from making sure everyone RSVPs, you should also consider the fact that a destination wedding will need a dress that’s suitable for that particular location.

How do you do it, though? How do you choose the perfect destination wedding dress? We have gathered some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

Do the research. Look at different types of destination wedding dresses and see which of the styles that appeal to you the most.  Don’t feel obliged to wear anything just because wedding etiquette “says so”. In fact, think out of the box and settle on styles that truly reflect who you are as a person. If you want a funkier dress with dashes of color, go for it. But if you want to be the traditional bride, you are definitely free to settle on long, white dresses as well.
Be wise. Consider the location you are getting married at and choose a style and a fabric that are suitable for it. For example, wearing a silk gown with a huge train may not be a great option if you plan on having a destination wedding.
Plan carefully. Once you have settled on a dress, make sure you talk to your vendor or retailer about the fact that you are having a destination wedding and that you will need your gown to be ready before you get on that plane.
Find a bridal salon at your wedding destination to have your gown steamed and press because shipping and handling on your way there might require it to be fresh when you get there.
